Lupe Fiasco Thinks I'm Outstanding

That's right folks... Yesterday, Lupe Fiasco had his album release party in NYC where he presented his first ever Outstanding Fan Awards, tweeting the winners out as the party was happening. I was honored to receive the Front Row Award. Check it:
How cool is that?! I don't do it for the accolades... I do it for the ratchets. Just kidding!

After receiving this in the mail a few weeks ago, I never expected to get more recognition from Lu:

Yes... that is a platinum record. What an awesome dude... I'm forever grateful...

You can see the full list of winners over at my blogging home away from home, The LupEND Blog (which just so happened to win best fan site. We cleaned up yesterday!)...

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Flo-Jo Friday

Since I'm trying to get back in the swing of things with posting on this blog on a somewhat regular basis, I've decided to start Flo-Jo Fridays again.

In my first Flo-Jo Friday post, I stated how Florence Delorez Griffith-Joyner is my personal nail icon so on the last Friday of each month, I will paint my nails in a style similar to something that she may have done to her nails. Check it:

I usually dont like designs where some of my nail is showing but I actually kind of like this...

I really wanted to start a book club but most people (at least most of the people I am around regularly) dont have time to read books like I do so I decided to start a cinema club instead. We'll be watching mostly cult classics and tomorrow is our premier event. We'll be watching Heathers...

To add a little spice to the event, my sisters and I will be dressing up like the Heathers...

Of course I will be wearing red in honor of Big Red herself, Heather Chandler.

And to make a short story long, that is why my Flo-Jo Friday design is red. I saw a picture of this design and thought it would be perfect for this post as well as for my Heathers outfit...

Anyway, I will post pictures of the event and of my sisters' nails. It should prove to be a pretty awesome event...

Rest in peace, Florence and Kim...
Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1

First and foremost... Happy Blogaversary to me...
When I started this blog one year ago today, all I knew was that I wanted a blog about nail polish that in some way paid tribute to Lupe Fiasco. I decided on the name Food & Lacquer Too, which was a play on the title of his anticipated 4th album, Food & Liquor 2:

Well yesterday, that highly anticipated album was released and of course I had to commemorate this on my nails. Check it:
I attempted to make the barcode flag on my pointer nail... I need better nail art brushes. (I just ordered some the other day on Amazon. Yippee!)...

I also write for The LUPEnd Blog. Over there, we participated in a "blackout" to celebrate the albums release. We wore all black because the album art is just black. No words. No pictures. All Black Everything.
Anyway, I am loving the album. And I can't wait until part two.

Check out the video for "Bitch Bad"... Trust me... It's not what you think...

And make sure to grab a copy of FL2... I got mine!

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

I love the Dough... More than you know...

This pink, unassuming food truck holds the key to happiness...

So on May 12th, I went to a Booger Kids event with little sister #2 in San Jose... I did this to my nails as a tribute to one of my favorite Bay Area Streetwear brands:

I love this damn brand!

After we stood in a ridiculously long ass line in the equally ridiculous hot ass San Jose heat, we decided to make our way to the Dough Truck, which is also owned and operated by the Booger Kids camp... Why is it called the Dough Truck, you ask? Well... Check the menu:
Yep, you read it right. The burgers come on a bun comprised of two glaze donuts!

Now little sis number two and I had heard of these kinds of burgers before from the show The Boondocks but we thought this was all just a myth. A hilarious myth. So when we saw that this was actually being done, we were wary at first... I mean... What kind of obese ridiculousness is it to eat a donut burger?! But, after witnessing countless other people consuming them to their satisfaction, we let our inner Drizzy out and gave it a whirl:

YOLO!

I had the gobble gobble with animal tots while she opted for the wild west with the loaded tots... Check it:

The box it comes in... Look at the grease! Mmmmm...

Look at the amazingness that awaits when you open the box!

Close up on the animal tots...

Close up on the deliciousness that is the gobble gobble...

Holy moly, these burgers are DELICIOUS! I was afraid it would be gross or weird but it was neither of those. I went IN on that burger! I totally forgot to take a picture of my nails while eating it... I haven't made it out there to get another one yet but when I do, I will make sure my nails are fly so I can send a pic of my good ass burger and my fly ass nails to my favorite tumblr, burgers and nails...

If ever you are in San Jose, I suggest you check them out... Me and Mark Zuckerberg can't be wrong!
Mark Zuckerberg knows what's up!
Stay classy...

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Pride: Part Too

So, months and months ago I posted part 1 of my SF Pride story and said I would be back to post the second half after attending the event. Well this is what I ended up doing that day instead of actually going to Pride:

Yeah, my foot was out of commission. I had to lay in bed all day with it elevated... It was all bad... But I wore my rainbow tie-dye socks in order to support from home...

In other rainbow news...

My sister (little sis #2) turned 19 in May (which was actually before Pride, but I digress) so I decided to throw her a small, intimate surprise party... It was an up, up and away balloon theme and the color scheme was rainbow! Here is a little of what I did:

Rainbow balloon wreath...

Rainbow beverages (including brown and white for the lush's who were in attendance. Lol)...

Rainbow fruit kabobs. These went like hotcakes!

Mini rainbow cakes. Everyone loved these! They were pretty good if I do say so myself. My niece helped me with the sprinkles, hence, the mess...

And these are her birthday nails, complete with Swarovski crystals:

She picked this design even though she had no idea about her party or the theme. I know my sister well...

She definitely enjoyed herself and was super surprised about it all. We had a great time...

My birthday is coming up in November and my party will be themed after The Big Lebowski. I cannot wait!

Stay classy...

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Music & Manicures

Four days out of the week I have specific playlists for corresponding days:

Miguel Monday:

TDE Tuesday:

Wu Wednesday:

2Pac Thursday:

The other 3 days in the week are free for all days. So, seeing as how today is Wednesday, I'm listening to Wu-Tang Clan. But it's ALSO Pink Wednesday, which is just as important as Wu Wednesday as far as I'm concerned... In the past, I have combined Wu Wednesday and Pink Wednesday on my nails:
ODB was my favorite member of the clan. May he rest in peace. Check the Wu symbol. I freehanded that. Dope, I know... Lol

Today, though, I restricted the Wu to my headphones and the Pink to my nails:

I smudged my middle nail right after I applied the Seche Vite. damn Damn DAMN!

Kinda plain. Just an argyle design on a few fingers but I like it. The light pink is a color I made myself. Haven't named it yet though...

As much as I love Wu-Tang, I've been on this Miguel kick since I saw him live last week and I cannot stop listening to him. So I switched out my Wu Wednesday playlist for my Miguel Monday playlist. But since it's Wednesday, and Miguel just so happens to be Blaxican (half Black, half Mexican) I've renamed it (just for today) my Miguel Miercoles playlist...

He visited Power 106 in LA this morning and he sang his single "Adorn" on the spot:

Do you see why I cannot stop listening to him? He is a golden-voiced angel!

Stay classy...

Peace... And much lacquer to you.
